Our staff are here because they love students. They listen, serve, hang out, teach, mentor, laugh with, guide and encourage. Like you, each are on a spiritual journey and have their own unique talents, stories, passions and struggles. Get to know them.

J.W. and Stephanie Betts

We are originally from Santa Fe, New Mexico and we’ve been on staff with Cru since 2001. We love hanging out with college students talking about our awesome savior Jesus. Before serving here in central NY, we were on staff in Sevilla, Spain, and Kearney Nebraska. Our life is an exciting adventure of faith. We’ve got five kids who we really love a lot: Jack, Josiah, Titus, Ruby, and Juni. They keep us wild and crazy. Our family likes bikes, books and bean burritos from Taco Bell.

Nic and Christy Brenner

Brenner Family

We’ve been on staff with Cru since 2006. Having spent our first four and a half years here at Cornell, our hearts have grown to truly love this campus. We’re both graduates of the University of New Hampshire, and have spent the past four years serving with Cru back at our Alma mater. Having felt the Lord calling us to return to Cornell, the ’16-’17 school year will be our first year back. We have three boys, Jack, Charlie, and Max, and a baby girl on the way! Our family loves the outdoors, legos, rough housing, and following Christ on this great adventure.

Mercy Gbenjo

I’m originally from Reno, Nevada and graduated from Cornell in 2013. During my time at Cornell I was part of the CU Track & Field team and was also very involved in Cru. After graduating, I felt God leading me to stay at Cornell and intern with Cru. I’ve interned the past 2 years and I’m returning for another year as part-time staff! I’m excited to see what God will do at Cornell this coming year.

Hey! My name’s Lydia Teubl and I just graduated from Cornell in May 2016 with a degree in Animal Science. I was born and raised in the beautiful Hudson Valley just an hour south of Albany. I’ve really loved my time at Cornell and the incredible people I’ve encountered. I’m so excited to stay another year and invest in the Cru community to help remind stressed students that college years can be faith-filled years! I love horseback riding, snowboarding, triathlons, juggling, a good cup of french-press coffee, talking about philosophy, and hanging out with my amazing family.
